Our older daughter is getting married in Maui next June (2019). We (her father, sister and I) live in Florida. We are all tall (hubby is 6'7", daughter over 6'1") and have experienced long-haul flights in both business and coach. With this being a fairly long flight from Florida, I am trying to figure out the best way to fly business or first class, and accumulating points seems like a reasonable approach. I just upgraded my Amex Delta Skymiles from gold to Platinum, and will easily get the 70,000 miles for purchases in first 3 months. My husband doesn't have a rewards card, but has a stellar credit score (nearly 800), so will likely qualify for any card he applies for. So, the question is, what card should he apply for, and do you have any recommendations on booking strategies and/or routes that would be best to explore. Again, we live in SW Florida (home airport is RSW), and can fly from MIA/TPA/Orlando easily. We are also open to flying to NYC or really anywhere, spend a day or two, then continue on to Maui if that makes more sense (from a using miles standpoint). What say you?
